Socket Set: Specifically 7mm, 8mm, and 10mm sockets for panel and regulator bolts.
Trim Removal Tools: To pry plastic clips without scratching the interior door card.
Torx Bit Set: Freightliner doors often use T20 or T25 security screws.
Heavy-Duty Tape or Wedges: To secure the glass in the "up" position during the swap.
Replacement Part: Ensure the new window regulator matches your specific VIN (Driver vs. Passenger side).
Unscrew the door lock knob and any visible Torx screws along the bottom and sides of the panel.
Use a trim tool to gently pop the perimeter clips.
Critical: Once the panel is loose, do not pull it away immediately. Reach behind to disconnect the electrical harnesses for the master window switch, mirror controls, and door speakers.
Raise the window manually to the fully closed position.
Apply several strips of painter’s tape over the top of the door frame and onto the glass on both sides. This prevents the glass from crashing into the door when the window regulator is detached.
Locate the bolts or clamps that attach the window regulator to the bottom of the glass. Loosen these carefully.
Unbolt the main window regulator frame from the door (usually 4 to 6 bolts).
Unplug the power connector from the window motor.
Maneuver the old assembly out through the largest access hole in the door frame. You may need to tilt it diagonally to clear the opening.
Slide the new window regulator into the door, aligning its mounting points with the factory holes.
Secure the mounting bolts but do not fully torque them yet.
Carefully lower the glass until it seats into the new window regulator’s clips or channel. Tighten the glass-to-regulator hardware securely.
Plug in the motor’s electrical connector.
Temporarily reconnect the window switch.
Cycle the window up and down several times. Listen for any binding or unusual friction.
Pro Tip: If your Freightliner has "one-touch" functionality, you may need to reset the limits by holding the "Up" button for 10 seconds after the window reaches the top.
Once verified, reinstall the water shield (plastic liner) and snap the interior panel back into place, securing all screws and trim covers.
